My background
Over the past 24 years I've run my own SMEs and worked for many more - in the hospitality, food manufacturing, advertising, recruitment, and mainstream and complementary health sectors. I've also worked for non and for-profit providers of government funded employment services of varying shapes and sizes, and have specialist knowledge of this area.
However it is within the nonprofit sector that my core interests lie, and it is an area in which I also undertake voluntary work. For example, earlier this year I assisted with Street Links, Ipswich's inaugural event for the city's homeless. I have served (and in some cases continue to serve) at the governance level in a number of organisations in the arts, disability, employment, vocational education and training, and economic development sub-sectors. Currently, I sit on the boards of Access Arts, the Business Enterprise Centre - Ipswich Region and the Bremer TAFE Advisory Council.
Furthermore, in 2009 I completed a Master of Business (Philanthropic and Nonprofit Studies) at the Queensland University of Technology, which is a little like an MBA for nonprofits with the addition of a research component. My project examined nonprofit leadership, an area I'm profoundly interested in.
I have a wide range of contacts across the sector, and generally. I'm also a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Women on Boards, and the Ipswich Chamber of Commerce - affiliations that reflect my passion for and interest in good governance, and good business.
In other words, I love my chosen field and I love meeting with and helping the people and organisations that shape it.
The next step
Simply call 0419 274 351 or email me and we'll arrange a time to meet for a cup of tea and a chat about what's going on and what needs doing.
- If you're a nonprofit or SME on a shoestring budget, we can talk about how and what we can do with the available resources.
- If you're less stretched, the conversation will be around identifying your needs and negotiating the fee we both feel hits the spot.
If it's a big project or a lengthy one, we'll probably discuss a payment structure too.
Once we've pondered the matter and determined some timeframes, I'll put the details in writing so the arrangement is clear for both of us. Then we keep having the conversation as often as we need or agree to while the work unfolds.
